After four years of active service Flight Lieutenant John Mervyn Hancock, met his death by accident when flying in England on March 1. He was up about 1000 feet when the machine seemed to stop and turn over. The young officer fell to the ground and was killed instantly. The ma-chine dropped into the Thames. The deceased was a son of Mr. Albert Hancock, formerly of Colac. and nephew of Mr. John and the late Mr. T. W. Hancock. He attended the High School at Colac when it was held in the Church of England School Hall. The parents and family will be deeply sympathised with in their sad bereavement.
